We have a table at the front of the church. In some churches it would be called the Altar, but in the Methodist church it is called the Communion Table. We usually decorate it with some flowers, and we place a cross in the middle of it.
Sometimes we have a special service called a Communion Service.
This is when we remember that Jesus died and came back to life. We eat small pieces of bread, and drink from small cups of wine, as we remember the last meal He shared with His disciples.
Some churches have a cross with a figure of Jesus on it, but our cross is empty. This reminds us that Jesus didn’t stay dead, but that he came back to life, so that if we trust in Him, and follow Him, although everybody dies one day, we won’t stay dead either. He offers us the gift of eternal life, with Him!
This is Good News!
The flowers are there to remind us of the beauty of God.
